Dental Cleanings

Even with a perfect home oral care routine, including flossing and brushing, plaque and tartar can still build up on the teeth and lead to bacterial infections, cavities, discoloration, and other problems. To ensure your teeth remain healthy and clean, everyone should have a professional dental cleaning (also known as prophylaxis or scale and polish) at least twice a year at the dentist. During a dental cleaning, the dentist will use professional tools, including ultrasonic instruments and hand tools to carefully remove the plaque and tartar that have built up on the dental enamel. Once the teeth are smooth, the dentist will polish the enamel, plus any fillings and dental work to remove stains and keep the teeth healthy. Dental exams are usually performed after the teeth have been professionally cleaned and in younger patients and those at a higher risk of tooth decay, a fluoride treatment may be included to strengthen the enamel. Regular dental cleanings are essential to a clean, healthy mouth by preventing disease and oral health concerns.

Fluoride Treatment

There are children and adults who don’t have good oral care routines and this can lead to tooth decay and cavities. To help developing or weakened teeth, professional fluoride treatments may be given at the dentist’s office to strengthen and remineralize the dental enamel. Fluoride is a natural element that is added to tap water and most toothpastes to help our teeth, but a professional fluoride treatment uses safe, but effective concentrations to protect the teeth against decay. Fluoride treatments can be given in different forms (gel, foam, varnish) with two different types of fluoride (neutral sodium fluoride for patients who have dry mouth and dental restorations or acidulated phosphate fluoride) in a variety of flavors to give you a healthier smile.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

One of the most important reasons to schedule an annual dental exam is so your dentist can catch problems, like dental cavities and tooth decay in their early stages. Tooth-colored fillings (also known as composite resin) can fill and seal and area of the tooth that has been infected with a cavity. Tooth-colored fillings can also be used to repair cracked or broken teeth, as well as teeth that have become worn our from nail-biting, teeth grinding, and misuse. Unlike older metal fillings (amalgams), tooth-colored fillings are made from a composite resin that can be colored to match the patient’ natural teeth for fillings that maintain the appearance of the smile. A filling is a quick, easy in office procedure and with proper care, a tooth-colored filling can last and protect your teeth for about ten years.

Dental Sealants

Since toothbrushes can’t always get every nook and cranny, especially in the back of the mouth, dental sealants are an easy and effective way to increase your protection against bacteria and cavities. Made with a thin, flexible plastic material, sealants are applied to the occlusal (chewing) surface of the back teeth, from the molars to premolars. Once in place, the sealants seal out plaque, tartar, food particles, and bacteria. While you won’t be able to see or feel your new sealants, your teeth will be cleaner and safer from tooth decay, cavities, and other oral health concerns, which will can mean better results at your next dental exam.

Mouth Guards

A custom-fitted mouth guard can be used during the day for sports protection or TMJ pain relief and at night for sleep disorders or teeth grinding.

Night Guards

Night guards can be custom made at a dental office for patients who grind their teeth or clench their jaw for relief from pain and dental problems.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

The last pair of teeth frequently emerge during the late teen are called wisdom teeth. Located in the rear areas of both arches, wisdom teethalso referred to as the third molars typically lack sufficient room to effectively grow in, are troublesome to keep bacteria-free, and may require extraction to safeguard general oral health. Wisdom teeth can be impacted (trapped under the gum tissues or jaw), misaligned, or not able to emerge as they should, causing a host of dental problems. Our Dentists conducts wisdom teeth extractions for US individuals to increase dental health and safeguard against an uneven bite and decay. If you or a member of your family has problematic or impacted wisdom teeth, call for a checkup to find out about your many options.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a colorless, odorless gas administered to patients during procedures to eliminate discomfort.

Oral-Conscious Sedation

Oral-conscious sedation is given to patients as a pill before a dental procedure to help them remain comfortable.
